The walking distance for the people of Sakteng will soon be shortened with the coming of a new feeder road. The ground breaking ceremony for the feeder road was carried out by Her Royal Highness Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck.

Also yesterday, Her Royal Highness inaugurated the Dungtse Middle Secondary School.

The school was formally inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Ashi Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck.

The school opened this year. Most people who had gathered for the inaugural told BBS that the school has benefited the people of Sakteng, Merak, Radhi and Phongmey.

Following the inaugural ceremony, Her Royal Highness interacted with the young boys and girls. Her Royal Highness also gave them stationary items.

Her Royal Highness also joined the students for lunch.

The Dungtse Middle Secondary School was constructed at a cost of Nu. 52 million with funds from the World Bank.

Currently, the school has about 350 students with 15 teachers.

Her Royal Highness also carried out the ground breaking ceremony for the 37 kilometre Thagthig farm road. The feeder road leads from Rangjung half way towards Sakteng. This means, the walking distance from Rangjung to Sakteng will be shortened from about 3 days to a day and a half.

Once complete the new feeder road is also expected to benefit about 1,200 households of Bidung, Sakteng and Phongmey.
